Dear Students, Parents, Families, Friends and “PHANS” of Phantom of the Opera:

It has been nearly a week since we heard for the final performance, “It’s Over Now The Music of The Night” and the curtain closed on an incredible chapter in all of our lives within the Spaulding High School Music and Theatre Department. As with every incredible piece of artwork, sometimes you must step back a bit and reflect on exactly what a masterpiece it is that you are seeing, hearing, and experiencing.

So, what exactly did we all experience together? A Once In A Lifetime Opportunity to create something that took an incredible amount of hours, effort, love, care, talent, work ethic, and commitment to give a 1000% of ourselves for the good of one goal, one production, one life changing musical production that will always live on in each of our minds and memories for the rest of our lives. We will always look back on Phantom of the Opera in March 2012 as a benchmark of personal and musical excellence performed with our SHS Music Department Family Members who gave it all and left no detail unfinished on our stage when the show was over for the last time. What has changed about us in walking through this experience together? I realize that we are extremely unique and what we can produce as a group of students, staff, and parents is extraordinary. We are very fortunate to have all that we have although monetarily, we have very little. In all of the important ways, we have it all. There is no greater gift that we can give of ourselves as a group or as individuals than time, talents, and love for the arts and each other. You can’t put a price on what we all just created together. No one part of the whole production would work without all of the other parts. The actors, singers, dancers, technicians, builders, lobby volunteers, seamstresses, directors, parent support, musicians in the pit, stage crew, lighting, sound, publicity, artisans, and every last ounce of energy when we thought we couldn’t possibly have any more went into this production……truly a labor of love enjoyed by thousands of amazed audience members which made it all worthwhile.

How can we truly express what we have all created together and possibly thank each of you for your personal part that you played in making this happen whether on the stage, off the stage, behind the scenes, or front and center…….we have all been part of something that has impacted our lives immeasurably forever !!! We are so proud and touched to have shared in this incredible time together and will always cherish and remember Phantom of the Opera, March of 2012 with love and amazement. You all hold a very special place in our hearts and in our lives.

With Love and Thanks,

“H”, Mrs. Richardson, Mr. Goodwin, Mrs. Stevens, Mrs. Towle and Mrs. Martin
